A glorious weekend in Bradenton, Florida this December as the third annual Bradenton Blues Festival was held on the banks of the Manatee River in this gulf coast community. Perfect weather, record number of concert goers, and a whole slew of top-notch blues performers made this one of the best music events of the year anywhere in North America.
Kicking off Friday night's free concert were local Floridian groups The Bridget Kelly Band and the Lauren Mitchell Band. Saturday's full schedule included Dave Muskett, Doug Deming and the Jewel Tones, EG Kight, Billy Branch and Sons of the Blues, Lil' Ed &the Blues Imperials, Jimmy Thackery & the Drivers and headliner Marcia Ball.
As if a night with such players as Samantha Fish, Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials, and Marcia Ball wasn't enough, The Bradenton Blues Festival has now expanded their activities to include Friday night and a gospel brunch on Sunday! See full details here:
Organizers of the 3rd Annual Bradenton Blues Festival have announced the line up for this year's event. Judging by the artists on the roster, and the fact that last year's festival in sunny Florida sold out, they are hopeful for another large influx of blues fans to the Bradenton Riverwalk in December.
Taking to the outdoor stage will be:
Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers
Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials
Bill Branch and the Son of the Blues
and numerous local talents
The Bradenton Blues Festival will also include a wide range of food vendors featuring Southern cuisine, craft beverages, and many events sponsored by the local Realize Bradenton organization. A large part of their work deals with youth art and music outreach programs, including a concert at Manatee High School by festival artist EG Kight. Organizers note that attendees last year hailed from 30 states and they hope to add to that number this year. Check back for more updates as we near the festival.
