![]() Veteran rocker Garland Jeffreys and his band brought their music to the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis last Friday night, riding the wave of success from their recent Truth Serum album. Jeffreys, best known in the past for classics like "R.O.C.K","Wild in the Streets", "Ghost Writer" and his cover of "96 Tears", led his band through much of Truth Serum and continued rock tradition by literally bringing his music to the masses by jumping off the stage to sing amidst the crowd on at least three occasions. Not band for a 70 year old! Surprise of the evening was opener Jake Clemons and his band with a rousing set of originals. ![]() Seattle singer/songwriter/composer Jherek Bischoff and his specially chosen guests warmed up the Fitzgerald Theatre in St Paul, Minnesota late in October as part of the Liquid Music series presented by the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. Featured that evening were Polica singer Channy Leaneagh, Deerhoof drummer Greg Saunier, Icelandic singer Olof Arnalds, Norwegian singer/songwriter Sondre Lerche and 6 players from the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. The first half of the program featured music that Bischoff wrote and his guests featured on, while the second half was made up of revamped versions of material by everybody as rearranged by Bischoff. Although you could tell his guests were a little apprehensive about this format, the evening was filled with fun musical twists and turns and a lot of smiles. |
