![]() Cafe Paradiso in Fairfield, Iowa hosted two fine duos on a chilly Friday night. Starting off the evening in front of a full house were Rebecca and Nathan Bliss of Barnaby Bright, touring in support of their most recent release The Longest Day. Headliners The Sea The Sea continued the folk/rock tradition with a set that also featured material from their latest CD Love We Are We Love. ![]() Fred Armisen sold out tickets to his performance at The Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis literally within a couple of minutes. As one of three such performances held around the country, the immensely talented Armisen shared an episode from the latest Portlandia season and then spent around 90 minutes fielding questions, comments, and compliments from the audience. All photos copyright by Kim Reed. Fred Armisen wears many hats. He is the co-star and writer of the IFC series Portlandia with Carrie Brownstein, a former cast member of Saturday Night Live, the current bandleader for Late Night With Seth Meyers, a stand up comedian, a singer/songwriter, and the former drummer with the punk rock band Trenchmouth. A truly humble Armisen spent most of his time on the Cedar stage responding seriously to the questions of audience members and explained various sketches in Portlandia, background on the actors, his music, and basically how his mind works. Comedic moments were numerous though. Sketch characters were portrayed, ideas were brainstormed, homemade scarves accepted, hugs were given. To be honest, it was riveting to get some insight into this exceptionally gifted musician, comedian, and actor.
