Ian Hunter, famed singer/songwriter for the legendary Mott the Hoople, brought his Rant Band to the newly-opened City Winery in Nashville last night. He and his top-notch group ran through a lengthy set of material made up of Mott the Hoople hits and his prolific solo work over the years. Opening the evening's festivities were American singer Amy Rigby and her British counterpart Wreckless Eric. While it is certainly still a thrill for me to find new & talented bands on the way up in clubs and smaller venues, it is still a treat to see a living legend in action. James Taylor brought his band to the iWireless Center in Moline and played his way through a couple of lengthy sets made up of classics like "Fire & Rain", "Mexico" and "Steamroller" as well as introducing new material. Sweet Baby James still has the mojo. |
